Sam and Judy Guida are happy to say their niece, Jackie Trussell, has moved to Oregon to be near them. Jackie, who grew up in Tampa, Fla., spent most of her childhood summers in Pedee with them.
A few months ago she decided to move here and stay with the Guidas while looking for a job after getting her master's degree as a nurse practitioner at the University of Florida. She then applied for work at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland and promptly got a job as an ICU nurse in the neurology unit there, so didn't get much time here in Pedee.
Sam and Judy have been helping her and her dog, Arlo, move to an apartment in Portland.
As members of Polk County Women for Agriculture, Carol Marx, Tiffany Marx, Emmy Domes and Sandra Norman of Rickreall, Diann Washburn of Dallas, Jeree Mulkey of Monmouth and I planned and put on the annual Oregon Women for Agriculture state convention at Salishan Resort, south of Lincoln City, last week.
The resort was beautiful, the weather perfect, and our program educating about ag-related issues was interesting, so we were pleased with the outcome -- and glad we don't have to do it for at least another four years.
Daniel Russell was at the Pacific Evangelical School of Ministry last week. He's in his first year of a three-year Master of Ministry program and spends a week in class about every two months during the school year. He has a lot of reading and additional meetings between the class weeks, in addition to his regular pastoral duties.
Kings Valley Charter School held its talent show fundraiser and dinner March 9 that raised more than $200 for the school robotics club. Performers included students and faculty, including Josh Simons of Pedee. It was an enormous amount of fun. Close to 100 people attended.
