Covering Dallas, Monmouth, Independence, Falls City and surrounding areas since 1868

3/27 Pedee News: Arlene Kovash

March 27, 2013

Tale Makalea, Rob and Sheri Griffin, and James Mellein all received plaques for five years of service with the Pedee Fire Department.

Their class was the largest class of cadets for Pedee that had ever gone through the fire academy together.

Those recruits, now experienced firefighters, have been important in keeping the station open, but the department is again looking for new volunteers to keep the station strong and well-staffed. The next academy will start in July and applications are being taken now, so consider serving your community in this way.

Easter is Sunday and Pedee Church invites you to join the congregation at their sunrise service at Womer Cemetery at 6:30 a.m., Easter breakfast at 7 a.m. or soon thereafter, and the Easter service at 10 a.m.

Each year for the 10 o'clock service, they put a wooden cross in front of the church and people can bring flowers or greenery to add to it for a beautiful remembrance of the Risen Christ.

Several people have taken pictures of their families with the cross over the years as their traditional Easter photo.

Pedee Church is updating its directory and has decided to make it for the whole Pedee community. If you would like to be included in the directory, please email me at kovasha@gmail.com and give me your name(s), kids' names, address, phone number and email address, or as much of that information that you'd like to share. When the directory is completed, I will let you know so that you can get a copy. It should be handy.
