Covering Dallas, Monmouth, Independence, Falls City and surrounding areas since 1868

It's always something.
Our group at Pedee Church will not have its monthly UFO (unfinished object) day on Saturday because it conflicts with Family Fun Day, which will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at Kings Valley Charter School.
That should be a really fun event for the whole family, so plan to go. It will include all sorts of activities, games and good party food like snow cones and more.
Next month the UFO group will get together and again make tote bags from feed sacks, which a few missed -- not that you have to make one; just come with your own project to work on.
Congratulations to Adam and Emily Coe on the birth of their new little girl, Penelope Rose, on June 24. Both Adam and Emily teach at Kings Valley Charter School.
The Polk County Saddle-ites couldn't have asked for better weather for their Poker Ride June 22 and the turnout proved it. They had 59 riders from all over the state.
They thank all their sponsors who provided prizes for winning poker hands: Coastal Farm Supply, Wilco, Pedee Creative Memories, Kovash Farm, 5050-3 Tactical Supply, Dutch Bros., 90 Ranch, Perrydale Trails LLC, Denise Richards of Town & Country Realty in Corvallis and the Shellenbarger family.
The group voted to offer scholarships to two county seniors this next year with the proceeds from the ride.
