Seventy-eight pies were made by the ladies of the Pedee Women's Club for the Dancing Oaks Nursery Summer Festival on July 13.

This money-raising project does well for them as everyone loves their all-homemade pies and ice cream. Members and friends who made pies and/or worked in their booth were too many to mention, but all the help was very much appreciated.

Part of the money is used for assisting the Luckiamute Valley Charter School in Pedee each year. Last year they helped pay for field trips.

June Clark recently returned from a 2,600-mile trip on her Honda GoldWing motorcycle with sidecar. The far point of her trip was Billings, Mont., where she joined 200 other ladies at the International Ride-In of the Women on Wheels.

She rode over many mountain passes on this trip, including Lolo Pass (Idaho to Montana), Beartooth Pass (northeast entrance to Yellowstone), Teton Pass (Wyoming to Idaho) and many lesser or unnamed passes.

Along the way she accumulated checkpoints for other motorcycle activities and enjoyed a night with her friends in Battle Ground, Wash.

All in all, a delightful trip.

Sandy Fornier went to Lake Tahoe at the end of June with her youngest daughter, Michal, and Michal's four children: Angie, 16, Paul, 12, Sammy, 10, and Xavier, 8. There, they were joined by her oldest son, Daniel, and his fiance, Shannon, and middle son, Bill, and his two children, Adam, 11, and Bridgette, 3.

They all went to Alameda's traditional hometown Fourth of July parade and carnival in the morning, held a family barbecue in the afternoon to celebrate the Fourth and Bill's, Michal's and Adam's birthdays. They sat in the backyard in the evening and watched the fireworks in Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin in the valley below Daniel's hillside home.

Sandy returned home last weekend.
