Bob and Lynda Schnekenburger spent half of this month on a 15-day Hawaiian cruise with their daughter, Chandra Chapman of Eugene.

They spent a few days in San Diego, and then boarded there for the trip to Honolulu, Hilo and Kona on the Big Island, then on to Maui and Oahu. In Oahu, they went to a luau on the beach and between perfect weather and fantastic Hawaiian entertainment, it was an event to remember.

On the way back, they spent three days bumming around San Diego.

Pedee Church is lining up its December activities, which include a church decorating party this Saturday at 9 a.m., and a concert by acoustic guitarist Ron Diller on Dec. 7. A potluck dinner will precede the concert, so come for dinner at 6:30 p.m. and stay for the concert, or just come to the concert at 7:30 p.m. The children's Christmas program is set for Dec. 15 and the Christmas Eve candlelight service will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 24.

Last Sunday after the service, several in the congregation packed Thanksgiving food boxes for community members who need a lift right now, and then on Monday served dinner at Stitch's shelter in Salem, as they do on the last Monday each month. They will be making Christmas boxes in December and can use donations for them. Contact the church at 503-838-4073.

Dan and Grace Hayes became grandparents when their daughter, Helen, and her husband, Kevin Lee, of Portland had their baby on 11/12/13. Florence Grace weighed in at almost 7 pounds. Love that birthdate!

Dave and Suzanne Burbank's son, Derek, received Benton County Farm Bureau's scholarship on Nov. 20. He is in his senior year at Oregon State University and plans to join the Peace Corps for two years, then teach vocational agriculture afterward.

Dave LaVoie is ill and in hospice care at this point.
