Taray -- 50th
George and Marjorie Taray of Independence recently marked their 50th wedding anniversary.
George Stephen Taray and Marjorie Jean Schaffer were married on Jan. 20, 1962, in a small church in Anaheim, Calif. The couple was attended by Tom and Nancy Garcia.
The couple has lived in Oregon since 1993.
George retired in 1989 after 32 years as a field service engineer for Hughes Aircraft Co. Marjorie is a housewife.
The Taray's are members of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Independence. They love to travel and are active with the Monmouth Senior Center.
Their family includes Sherry Taray-Palmer of Perth, Australia, G. Stephen Taray of Independence and the late David A. Taray. They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
