Rodney and Caroline Buchanan of Dallas will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Friday, Dec. 28, with a surprise open house at Faith Evangelical Free Church.
The gathering begins at 7 p.m. at the church, 2290 E. Ellendale Ave., Dallas. Friends of the couple are welcome to attend.
Rodney Buchanan and Caroline Baker were married on Dec. 30, 1972, at the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in Dallas. The Rev. Pete Unrau performed the ceremony. The couple was attended by Linda Mattis and Bill Cassel.
The couple has lived in Polk County all their lives.
Rodney is a hair stylist and the owner of Shear Perfections Salon in Dallas. Caroline is a resident service director at Dallas Retirement Village.
The couple are members of Faith Evangelical Free Church. They are supporters of Faith Christian School in Dallas. They enjoy boating and driving their 1970 Ford Mustang.
Their family includes Kori (Tim) Sing of Stayton, Casey Buchanan of Dallas, Nick (Veronica) Toney of Honolulu and Danny (Katie) Franco of Roseburg. The couple has three grandchildren.
