WEST SALEM -- Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer.

So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu member has gone before: Harvard Law School.

Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

That is the storyline for the musical "Legally Blonde," which opens Friday at West Salem's Pentacle Theatre.

The play is based on the book by Heather Hach. Music and lyrics were written by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

Among the cast members is Amanda Norman, who stars as Elle Woods.

Pentacle's version of "Legally Blonde" is directed by Robert Salberg.

Tickets for "Legally Blonde," which runs through March 30, can be purchased in advance at the Pentacle Theatre ticket office, located at 145 Liberty St. NE in downtown Salem.
