Asleep at the Wheel -- June 8, 2012

Asleep at the Wheel

Asleep at the Wheel

The band Asleep at the Wheel is known as the nine-time Grammy winning "Kings of Texas swing."

The Austin-based septet was founded 40 years ago and plays a mix of Western-swing, boogie and roots music -- and has churned out more than 25 albums.

In 2009, the group collaborated with Willie Nelson for the album "Willie and the Wheel." That successful effort was followed by a tour and double-bill show on PBS's "Austin City Limits." Asleep at the Wheel actually appeared in the very first regular episode of that television program.
