POLK COUNTY -- A public hearing addressing the possible consolidation of the Polk County Farm Service Agency office takes place Friday at 9 a.m. at the Polk County Fairgrounds and Event Center, 520 S. Pacific Highway West, Rickreall.
The public is welcome to comment on the proposed consolidation at the meeting, which will be held in the main room of the main building at the fairgrounds.
All input will be used to make a final decision on whether to move forward with consolidation plans, which are part of a proposal affecting 131 FSA offices in 32 states.
The proposal is part of the USDA's "Blueprint for Stronger Service" plan announced Jan. 9 by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. The plan would implement $150 million in cuts annually if it moves forward in its current form.
Producers can also provide e-mail comments to Lynn.Voigt@or.usda.gov or send written comments to Lynn E. Voigt, state executive director, Farm Service Agency, Oregon State FSA Office, 7620 SW Mohawk St., Tualatin, OR 97062 no later than Feb. 6.
