Benefit for LVCS slated on July 28
MONMOUTH -- Dancing Oaks Nursery will host its annual Summer Garden Festival, a benefit for Luckiamute Valley Charter School, Saturday, July 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The nursery is located at 17900 Priem Road, southwest of Monmouth near Pedee.
There is no admission charge.

Local garner recognition at WOU
MONMOUTH -- A number of students from Polk County are among those who have qualified for inclusion on Western Oregon University's honor roll list for spring term 2012.
To qualify for the recognition, students must post a term grade-point average of between 3.5 and 3.99.

Polk students make UO dean's list
EUGENE -- Eleven Polk County residents were among the 1,293 students named to the University of Oregon's dean's list during spring term 2012.
To qualify, a student must be an undergraduate, complete at least 15 credit hours for the term and have 12 credits graded with a GPA of 3.75 or better.

WSHS graduate qualifies for honor
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Breann Kinsey of Salem was among 610 students who made the dean's list at California Lutheran University for the 2012 spring semester. Kinsey, a 2010 graduate of West Salem High School, is a junior majoring in biological science. Students qualify for the dean's list by maintaining a 3.6 grade-point average in their academic subjects.
