FALLS CITY -- Four offices, three city council positions and the mayor's seat in Falls City, will be up for election in November.
The seats currently held by councilors Erma Ferguson, Julee Bishop and Henry Hughes will be contested this fall. The offices are for four-year terms. Hughes has said he will not run for re-election, while Ferguson and Bishop have not turned in paperwork yet.
The mayor's position, currently held by Amy Houghtaling, is a two-year term. Houghtaling has not turned in paperwork yet, but has said she intends to, according to City Clerk Domenica Protheroe.
To be eligible for office, candidates must be a registered voter in the state of Oregon and have lived within the city limits for three months immediately preceding the election.
Required forms and candidate petition signature sheets are available at City Hall, 299 Mill St., Falls City. Signatures on petitions must be verified by the Polk County Clerk before being turned in to the city.
Completed paperwork must be turned in at City Hall by Aug. 27 at 4 p.m.
Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday the office is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
