INDEPENDENCE -- If you're a longboard skateboard enthusiast, keep an eye out for stolen equipment rolling around Independence.
Thieves hopped a fence, cut a lock and broke into the Longboard Larry production facility in the 500 block of South Third Street on Saturday or Sunday and made off with nearly $1,000 in equipment.
Larry Peterson, owner of Longboard Larry, said all of the items taken were related to longboards -- including silver and yellow Stealth and Randal trucks (axles), 11 sets of bearings and orange Orangatang wheels and pink and red Abec 11 wheels.
"They just came after skate stuff, they didn't take anything else," Peterson said. "It's like they took enough to fill a few backpacks."
Peterson said he's offering a reward for the recovery of the gear.
Those with information on the theft are encouraged to contact the Independence Police Department at 503-838-1214.
