POLK COUNTY -- A Polk County man has been charged with committing more than a dozen felony sex crimes against an 11-year-old family member.
Darryl Eugene Patten Jr., 41, was arrested on July 24 by the Polk County Sheriff's Office in the 6800 block of McTimmonds Road, northwest of the intersection of Highway 223 and Gardner Road.
He is accused of three counts of rape in the first degree, five counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, five counts of unlawful penetration and sodomy.
The child disclosed to sheriff's deputies in Julythat they had been abused for the last two years.
Patten was arraigned last week and is currently lodged at Polk County Jail, with bail set at $500,000. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14.
