KVCS support group sets meeting in Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA -- The Kings Valley Charter School Parent Teacher Organization will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Chatoe Rogue Tasting Room at the Rogue Farms Micro Hopyard, 3590 Wigrich Road, south of Independence.

The group will be discussing updates to its 501(c)3 application, 2012-13 budget, committees and things it can do to support KVCS.

Parents, teachers and community members are welcome to attend and get involved with the newly-formed organization.

Ballston school still has a few enrollment spots

RICKREALL -- Ballston Community School near Rickreall still has a limited number of student enrollment openings for grades 1-12 for the 2012-13 school year.

The school is a tuition-free public charter school available to all Oregon students. It is located at 7575 Bethel Road.

ACADEMIC HONORS

Eastern recognizes six Polk students with honor

LA GRANDE -- Six students who reside in Polk County have qualified for inclusion on the 2012 spring term dean's list at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. They are: Amanda Stoltz of Falls City, Morgan-Marie Edwards of Independence, Leigh MacCarthy of Monmouth, and Abigael Barr, Frank Nihei and Rachel Wiley, all of West Salem. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher while completing 12 or more graded course hours.

West Salem resident receives dean's list nod

APPLETON, Wis. -- Marika Straw of West Salem has been named to the 2011-12 Lawrence University dean's list. To qualify, students must maintain a minimum 3.4 grade-point average.
