DALLAS -- The former home of the Oregon Nut Growers facility in Dallas was destroyed by fire early Saturday.

Firefighters received a call reporting a commercial fire involving two structures in the 1300 block of Southeast Jefferson Street at about 3:30 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, they discovered a 100-foot-by-300-foot wooden building and 100-foot-by-100-foot masonry structure engulfed in flames. The buildings formerly were a prune processing facility in the 1900s.

Forty firefighters fought the blaze, which was contained by 4:45 a.m. Units remained on the scene throughout the day to combat any flare-ups.

Investigators were attempting to determine a cause for the fire Tuesday. The owner is AMRESCO Commercial Finance, LLC of Boise, Idaho, according to Polk County Assessor's records.
