MONMOUTH -- Abby's House Center for Women and Families at Western Oregon University will host a "Who Needs Feminism?" photo campaign Monday through Wednesday.
The organization is inviting students, staff and community members to express why they feel feminism is needed and have their photo taken. The photos will be displayed on campus during the spring term.
The project, which originated at Duke University last year, is aimed at challenging existing stereotypes surrounding feminists and asserting the importance of feminism today. WOU is one of the first universities on the West Coast to participate in the effort.
Abby's House representatives will have a table in the Werner University Center for photos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members may park for free in Lot H. A campus map can be found at www.wou.edu.
