POLK COUNTY -- A Silverton man was killed and three people injured in a multi-car collision on Highway 22 northwest of Dallas on Saturday, Oregon State Police said.
The accident happened at 6:30 p.m. near the Red Prairie Road intersection.
Marcos Antonio Luz, 41, of Woodburn was traveling west in a Ford van when he crossed the centerline and hit an eastbound 2000 Toyota sedan, OSP said.
A Dodge pickup traveling west then crashed into the van, knocking it into a ditch.
Clifford E. Fagaly, 69, the driver of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Kerttu R. Fagaly, 85, was critically injured and transported to Salem Hospital. Luz was also taken to Salem with serious injuries.
The driver and passenger of the pickup were treated for minor injuries at Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville.
The crash took place in heavy fog and icy conditions. OSP said it's investigating whether alcohol was a factor in Luz crossing the centerline.
