MONMOUTH/INDEPENDENCE -- If you're a resident or belong to an organization interested in assisting the community through programs or projects, you may be eligible for grants to help with your mission.
The 24-Hour Relay Challenge committee is accepting applications for mini-grants worth up to $500 through Feb. 11.
The grants come from proceeds of the 24-Hour Relay Challenge and the Independence Hop & Heritage Festival.
Judges will review submissions, which must include efforts to address drug and alcohol use among youths, reduce negative peer pressure and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Suggestions or ideas that meet the above criteria include:
* Sports or athletic groups, activities or events.
* Activities or events for at-risk groups.
* Education-based presentations or activities.
Preference for awards is given to projects that benefit the most people.
Grant application forms can be requested from and returned to the following email address: email@example.com.
Deadline to apply is Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. Grants will be awarded by March 13.
