INDEPENDENCE -- Central High School's Multicultural Club will be selling chances for gift certificates and prizes from 13 local businesses and eateries through Feb. 13.
The school club is trying to raise money for students to attend the Cesar Chavez Leadership Conference at Western Oregon University March 8.
The event annually draws more than 1,000 Hispanic students from middle- and high schools across Oregon.
Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from Multicultural Group members or by calling Paula Tamayo at 503-420-9884. The drawing will be held Feb. 14.
Participating businesses are from the Monmouth-Independence area and include Les Schwab, Burgerville, Yang's, San Antonio Mexican Restaurant, Ragin' River Steak House and several others.
