INDEPENDENCE -- Central School District will host a community forum Tuesday to discuss the possibility of "right-sizing" local elementary schools.
The meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Central High School's cafeteria.
The district is considering moving students from Henry Hill Elementary School to other elementary schools in Monmouth and Independence and repurposing the building for other uses.
The move would help the district as it tries to shore up a $750,000 deficit for the 2013-14 school year. Officials believe right-sizing would offer long-term financial stability.
The topic will also be on the agenda for a Central School Board work session March 12 at 6:30 p.m.
