Dallas Community Foundation awards grants to nonprofits

DALLAS -- The Dallas Community Foundation awarded $30,000 in grants to 22 local nonprofits Thursday during a presentation at the Dallas Public Library.

DALLAS -- The Dallas Community Foundation awarded $30,000 in grants to 22 local nonprofits Thursday during a presentation at the Dallas Public Library.

This year, the foundation received 30 requests amounting to more than $78,000.

"The fund continues to grow, but the (foundation) board had to make some tough decisions," said Mia Mohr, the foundation's administrator. "But the board was able to fund a variety of projects that will have great impact and benefit to the community."

Grant recipients included:

Bambinos, Ore. -- $2,000; Dallas Blue Dolphin Swim Team -- $500; Dallas Education Foundation -- $2,000; Dallas Emergency Food Corporation -- $1,800; Dallas Mat Club -- $1,000; Dallas United Methodist Church -- $1,000; Dallas United Soccer Club -- $500; Dallas Weekday School of the Bible -- $900; Friends of the Dallas Public Library -- $1,000; Garten Services Inc. -- $1,500; James2 Community Kitchen -- $2,800; Kids, Inc. of Dallas -- $500; Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency (Polk County Resource Center) -- $2,000; Morrison Campus Alternative School -- $1,000; Mustangs and MOHR -- $1,000; Polk Community Development Corporation -- $2,000; Polk County Health and Human Services (Mid-Valley Parenting of Polk County) -- $1,000; SABLE House -- $2,000; Salem Free Clinics (Polk Community Free Clinic at Trinity) -- $1,500; ARC of Polk County -- $750; Victim Offender Reconciliation Program -- $1,500; and Willamette Valley Food Assistance Program -- $1,750.

The Dallas Community Foundation was established in 1995 to benefit the residents of the Dallas area.
