DALLAS -- Registration is under way for the 11th annual Polk County Master Gardeners' Fall Fling and Vendor Faire, scheduled Sept. 7 at Dallas High School.
Preregistration is required -- no day-of-the-event registration is available -- and the deadline to sign up is Monday.
This community educational event featuring expert speakers will address a number of subjects, including maintaining interest in your garden year-round, sustainable gardening with chickens, and vertical gardening. The $30 registration fee for all speaker presentations includes a catered lunch and snacks.
Limited seating for afternoon workshops on garden strategies, making a sedum-topped ornamental pumpkin and creating a kitchen herb garden planter will be available. Additional fees for afternoon workshops range from $10 to $25 and include materials.
For the first time, the Fall Fling Vendor Faire at Dallas High School featuring plants and products from several nurseries, garden books, garden art, tools and information will be accessible to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor Faire admission is free.
