DHS Site Council seeking members
DALLAS -- Dallas High School is looking for parents to serve on the Dallas High School Site Council.
The elected members must be able to attend meetings on the third Monday of each month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Dallas High School.
Composed of teachers, an administrator, parents, students and community members, the Dallas High School Site Council is involved in curriculum changes and school improvement projects.

Whitworth to hold pumpkin carving contest
DALLAS -- Whitworth Elementary School students, are you an expert carver? Whitworth Parent Teacher Club is inviting you to show off your talent in a pumpkin carving contest Wednesday morning at the school, 1151 SE Miller Ave.
Bring your already carved pumpkin to school and register for the contest between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. Pumpkins will be judged to determine top entries in fourth- and fifth-grade, and best in several categories, such as scariest and prettiest. All pumpkins must go home with students at the end of the day -- just not on the bus -- or they will be discarded.

Young Artists Playtrium choir needs singers
DALLAS -- Do you love to sing? Young Artists Playtrium (YAP) is looking for energetic musicians who have previous choral experience, either with YAP or another choir, to participate in the program's Winter Community Choir. You do not have to be a Dallas student to join.
The choir has slots open for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass singers. Rehearsal are Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Dallas High School choir room, 1250 SE Holman Ave., Dallas.
Winter Community Choir performances will be Dec. 5-6.

Ash Creek Elementary looking for outgrown clothes
MONMOUTH -- For its fourth annual clothing swap on Nov. 2, Ash Creek Elementary will begin accepting old or outgrown clothes starting Monday.
Administrators ask that only clean clothes with no rips, holes or stains be donated.
Jeans, shirts, coats, jackets, socks and dresses of all sizes are needed, specifically for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Parent volunteers will transform the school cafeteria Nov. 1 into a clothing store for the Saturday swap.

Children's grief group to meet at Whitworth
DALLAS - Willamette Valley Hospice will facilitate a six-week after school children's grief group for fourth- and fifth-grade students beginning Monday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Whitworth Elementary School, 1151 SE Miller Ave.
Sessions will be Mondays through Nov. 18 and Dec. 4 and 11 for children whose families have experienced a loss of a loved in the last two years. A minimum of five participants is required.
