DALLAS — After two months of remodeling, Capitol Auto West Valley opened its doors in the former McMullin Motors location last week.

Those who were customers of McMullin — which operated a dealership in Dallas since 1983 — may notice a few familiar faces on their next visit, including McMullin owner Jerry McMullin, who joined Capitol Auto as a salesman.

The dealership located at 812 SE Jefferson St., part of Salem-based Capitol Auto Group, opened on Dec. 4 and sold its first car on the same day.

"We have had a warm welcome," Alex Casebeer, Capitol Auto used car sales manager, said on Friday. "People have been coming in saying. 'thanks for being here.'"

Friday morning — even with snow falling and frigid temperatures — the store was bustling with a crew installing a new sign on the building and people coming in to say "welcome to Dallas."

Like McMullin before it, Capitol Auto is a family-owned business and will offer similar services. The location will sell used cars, but customers will have access to Capitol Auto's entire inventory, up to 700 vehicles.

"We can even deliver the car here," said Rich Ropp, Capitol Auto West Valley's sales manager. "We can have it here in less than an hour."

Those Capitol Auto customers with pre-paid service contracts and warranties also can have oil changes and repairs done at the full-service shop.

"Now they don't have to drive 25 minutes to get an oil change," Casebeer said.

Many of the location's employees will have a shorter commute, too.

"The majority of the employees live here in Dallas," Casebeer said, noting his family has connections to the area.

Alex's father, Scott Casebeer, Capitol Auto president, and his wife, Carrie, live in the Monmouth area, and Carrie is a member of the West Valley Hospital Foundation board of directors

"We are excited to be here," Alex Casebeer said.
