DALLAS — Looking to get into the spirit of the season? The Guthrie Park Community Center might just be the place for you come Friday night.
Guthrie Park will host its 25th annual "Sounds of Christmas" community concert and fundraiser program Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The event at the Guthrie Park Community Center, 4320 Kings Valley Highway, about three miles south of Dallas, is open to the public. Admission is free (donations will be accepted), but seating is limited. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for the old-fashioned Christmas celebration, one of Guthrie Park's most popular events of the year.
Festivities include live holiday music performed by Cooper Hollow, Sarah Headings, and Cash & Company. There will also be a holiday singalong, a music jam session at the end of the evening, and Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance. Refreshments will be available.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a variety of gift items, including a kid's scooter, garden sculptures, a queen quilt bed set, toys, tools, jewelry and more. Tickets cost $1 or $5 each. Raffle tickets are only sold at the event, and you must be present to win.
Proceeds from the raffle and the holiday program go toward the maintenance and operation of Guthrie Park Community Center, a nonprofit 501-c organization that oversees operation of the community meeting and gathering place.
