Heather Ebner, a former student of Lehman's, presented the award to Lehman on Dec. 10.

Ebner described Lehman as "a very nice teacher" who always supports her students and offers them encouragement.

"She makes school very fun every single day," Ebner said of why she believes Lehman is the best second-grade teacher.

The Distinguished Educator Program began in the 2007-08 school year and recognizes those teachers who make extraordinary efforts in and beyond the classroom to help students reach their potential.
