Perrydale event seeking donations
PERRYDALE — The Perrydale Parents' Club is seeking donations and sponsorships for its upcoming annual dinner and auction fundraiser.
This year's event, "Growing our Children's Future," a garden party-style gala, is scheduled May 17 at the Polk County Fairgrounds and Event Center in Rickreall. Tickets will be available for purchase in March at a cost of $22 per person or $160 for a table for eight.
Auction donations can include items, services, or gift cards and gift certificates. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are also available, ranging from $100 to $1,000. Proceeds from the auction and dinner will benefit a variety of Perrydale School K-12 programs. Last year's event raised $27,000.

Falls City recipient of SMCF grant
FALLS CITY — The Falls City School District recently received a $2,000 grant from the Spirit Mountain Community Fund to help pay for a security camera at Falls City Elementary School.
In September, the district applied for a $3,469 grant, half the cost of the security camera, and received $2,000 in funding in December.
Lynn Love, Falls City School District's business manager, said the money will be carried over to the 2014-16 budget so the district can budget for the additional $5,000 to pay for the camera system.
