FALLS CITY — The deadline to apply for the vacant seat on the Falls City City Council is Friday at 1 p.m.
City administrator Amber Mathiesen said that as of Monday afternoon, Falls City had received five applications for the position formerly held by Alyssa Reynolds.
Reynolds was removed from office Dec. 11 by a vote of the council due to poor meeting attendance.
Those wishing to serve must be a registered voter and a resident of Falls City. All candidates for the position will be interviewed in a public "candidate forum" during the council's regular meeting Feb. 13 at the Falls City Community Center, 320 N. Main St.
A new councilor, who will be selected by a vote of the council at its March 13 meeting, will serve the remainder of Reynolds' term through December 2016.
