FALLS CITY — Six candidates will be interviewed for the vacant spot on the Falls City City Council during a public candidate forum Thursday night.

Falls City residents Tony Meier, Paul Younk, Dennis Sickles, Guy Mack, Gerald Melin and Tracy Young are the applicants for the position.

Of those six, Meier ran for a spot on the council in 2012, while Young applied for a vacancy earlier that year. Sickles served on the council temporarily in 2010.

Current Falls City councilors will interview the six candidates during the council’s regular meeting Thursday, asking a pre-determined list of questions with follow-up questions.

A new councilor will be selected March 13 to serve the remainder of the term left vacant when former councilor Alyssa Reynolds was removed from office due to poor meeting attendance. The term expires December 2016.

The candidate forum is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Falls City Community Center, 320 N. Main St.
