DALLAS — Two Dallas parents were arrested Thursday after not adequately dressing their two young children to be outside in the cold and wind.
One child, apparently suffering from the cold, had to be taken to the hospital.
At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dallas police officers responded to a witness report that Jonathan, 21, and Megan Hensley, 20, had their children — a 5-month-old and a 17-month-old — in a stroller outside in 21 degree, snowy, windy weather for about an hour. Witnesses said the children were without appropriate clothing or blankets to keep them warm.
Worried about one of the children’s prolonged expose to sub-freezing temperatures in wet clothing, a witness also called 9-1-1.
The Hensleys were both arrested on charges of second-degree criminal mistreatment and reckless endangering, both misdemeanor crimes.
They were taken to the Polk County Jail, then placed on conditional release on Friday.
Family members of the Hensleys have taken custody of the two children.
