Community awards tickets on sale

DALLAS — Tickets to Dallas’ 57th annual Community Award Ceremony and dinner are on sale at the Dallas Area Chamber of Commerce, 119 SW Court St.

The ceremony will take place Feb. 21 at the Col. James Nesmith Readiness Center, 12830 Westview Drive, Dallas, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person.

The awards recognize and honor those individuals and businesses that have made a positive impact on the Dallas community within the last year. Awards to be given out are: First Citizen, Junior First Citizen, Outstanding Organization, Good Samaritan, Lifetime Achievement, Exceptional Family, Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Agricultural Business of the Year, Most Improved Business of the Year, and Excellence in Arts.

CPR class set Thursday in Falls City

FALLS CITY — The Falls City Fire Department is sponsoring a communitywide, all ages, noncertified free CPR awareness class at the Falls City Community Center/Fire Hall Building on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will learn the early warning signs of a stroke, heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest, and know what important steps you can take to make a difference. You will have an opportunity to meet the medics on the Falls City volunteer fire department and learn easy steps for saving a life.

The community center is located at 320 N. Main St., Falls City.

Trimester tax payments due Tuesday

DALLAS — The Polk County Tax Office reminds taxpayers who pay their property taxes in trimester payments that the second installment is due by Tuesday.

Payments may be made by mail, in Dallas at the tax office or by using online services.

Credit card, debt card and electronic-check payments may be made online or by phone. Call 1-888-643-8041 or visit, search for “online services” and click on “pay property taxes.” A 2.5 percent convenience fee is charged on credit and debit transactions, and a $3 fee is charged on e-check transactions.
