Thomas "Tom" LeRoy Johnson, 67, of Dallas died Jan. 21 in Dallas.
He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Eugene and Betty June Cooper Johnson.
Tom served in the Navy from March 1965 to March 1969. He was stationed in Vietnam and was discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer.
He married Marry Donna Atwood on March 31, 1966, in South Gate, Calif.
He lived in Valsetz from 1972 until moving to Dallas in 1979. He was a long-haul truck driver for 22 years and achieved 3 million miles driven. He drove from Florida to Maine, Alaska to San Francisco, and hauled anything from gold and black diamonds to baby food and nuclear weapons. He retired in June 2010.
Tom was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Dallas; son, Robert "Bob" Johnson of Dallas; daughters, Elizabeth Tirado of Whittier, Calif., and Shelly Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Judy Quinn of Bend; brother, Arthur "J.R." Hanshaw of Roseburg; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private family scattering of remains will be at sea.

Thomas D. Harkins
Thomas D. Harkins, 86, of Lebanon died Jan. 16.
He was born to Iva and Bill Harkins, weighing in at 12 pounds; his mother thus nicknamed him "Caboose." He was raised in the small town of Superior, Neb.
Tom graduated high school during World War II. In 1943, he attended the University of Nebraska until he was old enough to enlist in the Navy Air Corp. The Navy sent him to college in the V-12a program.
In 1946, after serving in the Navy, he moved to Oregon and began classes at the University of Oregon. From that point until his death, he was a proud Northwesterner although he remained loyal to his beloved Cornhuskers.
Tom worked with the purchasing department at Caterpillar in Dallas for many years. He traveled all over the country as well as in Europe in that capacity. He also spent time working in purchasing for Halton Equipment.
His first marriage ended in divorce and he later met and married the love of his life, Barbara Jamieson. They were blessed with 25 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 2011.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Katherine, in 2011.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Karen (Bob) Chandler of Lebanon and Carol Swanson of Bothell, Wash.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Celebration of Tom's life is Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon.

Annamae Hunter, 73, of Dallas died Thursday in Dallas.
She was born to Fredrick and Marybelle Stevens in Yakima, Wash. She grew up in Washington.
She married Charles William Hunter on Feb. 11, 1964, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Annamae moved to Oregon in 1980.
Annamae loved watching baseball and NASCAR; her favorite driver was Kasey Kane. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.
Survivors include her sons, Shawn Hunter, Shane Hunter, Shannon Hunter Shad Hunter and Charles William Hunter III; brother, Joseph L. Stevens; and seven grandchildren.
Celebration of life is Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at 345 SW Donald St., Dallas.

Kenneth L. Richards
Kenneth L. Richards, 91, a longtime resident of Monmouth, died Friday in Independence.
He was born to George and Nettie Richards in Corning, Iowa.
The family moved in 1934 to Oregon, where Ken attended Brownsville and Halsey schools, graduating in 1939.
He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served as a hospital corpsman on the front lines. He was discharged in 1946.
He married Betty Buckley-Jones in 1948 and they moved to the Pedee area where they farmed until 1964. They later moved to Monmouth, where Ken began a new career in 1963 building houses and his wife did the interior decorating. They were successful building a subdivision on the west side of Monmouth known as Orchard Heights.
He loved his family with his whole heart and always enjoyed as many family gatherings as possible. He enjoyed traveling and boasted that he had been around the entire world. He enjoyed salmon fishing, golf, hunting, playing bridge, coffee at J's, and watching baseball with his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Garry Richards, in 1997.
Survivors include his sons, Terry Richards and Ronald Richards; daughter, Margaret Richards; brother, Max; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and extended family.
Viewing is Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence. Memorial service is Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at Farnstrom Mortuary. A time of fellowship will follow at the Monmouth Senior Center.

Anton 'Tony' Gonzales
Anton "Tony" Gonzales, 63, of Sandy died Thursday.
Tony enjoyed using his many skills in a variety of projects, including upholstery, home repairs and remodeling, and he was always willing to help others with their projects.
Tony graduated from Falls City High School and lived in Dallas for several years. He served in the Army and worked at Reynolds Metals Co.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna Gonzales; daughter, Angela Uhler; son, Dustin Gonzales; mother, Ana Brown; numerous sisters including Liz Honse (Mark); three grandchildren; and extended family.
Memorial service is Friday at 12:45 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Douglas Lorin Jackson
Douglas Lorin Jackson, 95, of Dallas died Saturday in Independence.
He was born in San Bernardino, Calif., to Robert Irwin and Shirley Belle Collins Jackson.
He served for two years in the Navy at the end of World War II and was stationed in the Philippines.
In July 1949 he married Evelyn Gilbert in Yuma, Ariz. They lived in California, where Doug worked as a millwright for Kaiser Steel in Fontana. He retired after 30 years with the company in 1980. They moved to Dallas in 1990.
He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and made things for use around the house, including a swing set and jungle gym for the kids. He enjoyed traveling across the United States in their motorhome, fishing and boating. He taught his children and grandchildren to waterski.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 2003; stepdaughter, Phyllis Jayne Fowler; stepson, Bruce Edward Barrett; and son, Douglas Vernon Jackson.
Survivors include his stepdaughter, Margaret Barrett of Shady Cove; stepson, Paul Roddy Barrett of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Norma Lynne Harvey of Dallas; son, Phillip Randall Jackson of Olympia, Wash.; sisters, Mavis McCorkle and Ernestine Zane, both of San Bernardino; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Private family interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino.

Wilma D. Hein
Wilma D. Hein, 80, of Independence died Thursday.
She was born in Trenton, N.J., to Bill and Mabel Speck.
Her family moved in 1948 to California, where she completed her education. Wilma was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy.
She received her doctorate in physical education from Brigham Young University. She was a published author in her academic field. Wilma taught in several schools in the United States and internationally before coming to Western Oregon University in 1972 and retired as a professor.
Wilma enjoyed traveling. After retiring she took many tours and visited many countries. Comfort was not always important to her as she spent two months traveling on a working freighter as it delivered cargo to many international ports of call. Wilma's favorite place to visit was Thailand, where she made several visits throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mickey Kinnaman.
Survivors include her sisters, Jerri Dean of Salem and Sally Kesselman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and an extended family.
Graveside service with military honors will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Fir Crest Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 783 Church St. W., Monmouth.
