Covering Dallas, Monmouth, Independence, Falls City and surrounding areas since 1868
October 23, 2013
Voting is a privilege and reminder that we live in a country where we can speak freely about our likes and dislikes. Free speech and open debate are rights that many in the world fight for and hope to be able to exercise one day. Polk County residents will have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Nov. 5 Special Election. Ballots were mailed on Friday and should arrive in homes this week.
The November election includes a countywide public safety measure that all Polk residents will vote on, and those residing within the boundaries of the Polk Fire District No. 1 will also be voting on a levy to support operations. One more measure on the ballot is the city of Monmouth Annexation that voters within the city of Monmouth boundaries will vote on. A summary of these important measures can be found in this issue pages 1A, 2A and 3A of the Itemizer-Observer.
