PREP FOOTBALL: Central players honored on all-Oregon West Conference squad

INDEPENDENCE -- Central placed 11 members of its 2012 football team on the the Oregon West Conference all-league squad. Five players garnered more than one honor.

INDEPENDENCE -- Central placed 11 members of its 2012 football team on the the Oregon West Conference all-league squad. Five players garnered more than one honor.

Garnering first-team recognition for the Panthers were senior tight end Branden Cutsforth and junior running back/defensive lineman Tell Cruickshank.

Receiving second-team honors were senior wide receiver Kelton Chapman, senior defensive back David Powell, junior guard David Vidal and Cutsforth at linebacker.

Honorable mention honors went to junior quarterback Ben Finnegan, sophomore running back/linebacker Wes Riddell, senior center Josh Mason, senior tackle Noah Stepp, senior defensive lineman/kicker Joe Leon, junior defensive back Colton Magill, and Chapman as a punter.

Cody Crawford, a senior quarterback from Cascade, was named the OWC offensive player of the year; Justin Kruse, a senior lineman from Cascade, was chosen the OWC defensive player of the year; and Philomath's Troy Muir was selected OWC coach of the year.
