1A BASKETBALL: Falls City girls win, boys drop pair to start season

ALLS CITY -- The Falls City boys basketball team dropped a pair of games last week, falling 67-42 Nov. 28 at Mapleton and 72-57 Thursday against Livingstone Adventist Academy.

FALLS CITY -- The Falls City boys basketball team dropped a pair of games last week, falling 67-42 Nov. 28 at Mapleton and 72-57 Thursday against Livingstone Adventist Academy. Ethan McConnell scored 22 points to lead the Mountaineers (2-0) in the loss to Mapleton and Tristan Yeager added 15 points. Thursday, sophomore George Hillebrand scored a team-high 21 points, including two 3-pointers, McConnell added 15 points and Yeager had 14. Falls City returns to action Thursday for a matchup at North Clackamas Christian. The Mounts will host Trinity Lutheran Saturday and Perrydale on Tuesday.

Girls

The Falls City girls basketball team got off to a strong start to the season with Thursday's 53-26 victory over Livingstone Adventist Academy. Carrie Mack scored a game-high 19 points and Anna Dixon and Brittany Varney chipped in 15 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the scoring effort for the Mountaineers (1-0). Falls City returns to action Thursday when it travels to Eddyville for a 5:30 p.m. matchup. The Mounts also have a home contest against Trinity Lutheran of Bend Saturday before hosting Casco League rival Perrydale Tuesday to open conference play.
