NEWPORT -- David Vidal picked up two wins at 220 pounds to lead the Central wrestling team in two tough Oregon West Conference dual losses Jan. 16.

In Central's 66-15 loss to defending Class 4A state champion Cascade, Vidal defeated Malachi Gonazalez by a 3-0 decison, then pinned Sweet Home's David Skeen in the Panthers' 72-10 loss to the Huskies.
"It was nice to get those wins in there," Central coach Van Holstad said.
At 126 pounds, Daxten Blackwell was the only other Central wrestler to pick up a mat win against Cascade with his pin over Dillon Blythe.
In the loss to Sweet Home -- 2012's third-place state finisher in Class 4A -- Noah Stepp won his 182-pound match by a 12-0 major decision over Ben Terry.
