MONMOUTH -- The Western Oregon University baseball and softball teams step to the plate to open their respective 2013 seasons this week.
The Wolves, ranked 40th in Collegiate Baseball News' NCAA Division II preseason poll, travel to Turlock, Calif., for a three-game nonconference series beginning Friday with Cal State Stanislaus.
The Wolves will kick off the season Friday for a 2 p.m. game and then play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
WOU's softball team also opens its season Friday in California, traveling to La Jolla for a four-game series with UC San Diego.
The Wolves kick off the series Friday with doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, WOU will play another doubleheader starting at noon.
