COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Western Oregon's Melissa Fowler earns all-GNAC honor

MONMOUTH -- Western Oregon University junior forward Melissa Fowler was chosen as an honorable mention selection as part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-league women's basketball team.

MONMOUTH -- Western Oregon University junior forward Melissa Fowler was chosen as an honorable mention selection as part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-league women's basketball team.

Fowler earned her first all-conference nod after leading the Wolves in scoring at 11.2 points per game in conference play. She also led WOU in shooting percentage (46.4 percent) and finished second on the team in rebounding (5.7 boards per contest).

Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe of Simon Fraser was named GNAC Player of the Year and Western Washington's Carmen Dolfo was selected as Coach of the Year. Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Simon Fraser's Erin Chambers, Jessica Madison of Alaska Anchorage was named Freshman of the Year and Kyle Schierman of Northwest Nazarene took home the Newcomer of the Year award.
