Mildred was born on a farm in Alsen, N.D., the oldest of three.
She was fondest of the nights watching the fairies driving their cars to and from the barn.
Her father Bill had told her that they were fairies, but in fact, they were the cats roaming about looking for their evening meal.
Mildred moved with her family to Perrydale in her teenaged years.
She graduated from Salem High School. They attended Dallas Mennonite Church, where she met Robert G. Friesen. They married Jan. 3, 1947.
She raised four children and helped alongside Bob in his business adventures starting with the Friesen Core Company.
When Bob became a mortician, she then worked in the mortuaries in multiple capacities starting at the Friesen Mortuary in Dallas, then in Forest Grove, Beaverton and Hillsboro.
They later moved to California where she worked in a dental office before becoming an office manager and bookkeeper in her son’s HVAC business until her retirement.
Her love of deep-sea fishing, boating and being on the water was well known.
She had the ability to catch the big salmon in the ocean and big bass on the Delta.
She is survived by three sons Randy (Darlene), Robin and Jay (Cindy); eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Gladys Ratslaff; and a brother Eugene Loewen. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and daughter Joan Eberly
