Geraldine (Dumas) Cissna, of Dallas, died June 24, 2017, at the age of 86, in the care of Dallas Retirement Center.
She was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on July 19, 1930, to Lawrence and Alice (Stenzel) Dumas.
Geraldine moved to Portland at a young age and lived there most of her life before settling down in Dallas in 2000.
On July 18, 1953, she married Dale Cissna, and together they raised four children.
Geri and Dale raised their family in the Christian faith, and Geri was involved with every church they attended along the way.
She had the heart of a servant and was very involved with children’s ministries.
She taught Sunday school, daily vacation Bible school, good news club and was a church camp counselor.
She also volunteered as lead cook for many summers at Camp Morrow, a Christian camp in Wamic.
She was honored for her 30 years of being involved with Awana and led Perrydale School release time during her years in Dallas.
Geri’s greatest desire was to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and she spent a lot of time traveling to keep up with each wedding, graduation and birthday.
Numerous hobbies kept her busy in between: ceramics and cake decorating, just to name a couple.
She and Dale attended Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas, and she was very involved in the women’s ministries there.
Geri is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale Cissna; her children, Linda (Thomas) Hatley, David (Debbie) Cissna, Mary (Ron) Jablonsky and Danny (Debbie) Cissna; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas, with a luncheon reception to follow. Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family.
