Carrol Ruth Cooley, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at her home. She was born in Dallas, the daughter of Dietrich and Sadie Hiebenthal Diehm, on March 26, 1941.
She graduated from Dallas High School in the class of 1959. Growing up, she was part of a singing trio. They participated in singing competitions and performed around town.
On Sept. 1, 1961, she married Gary Cooley. Carrol worked in the cannery, at Crider’s Department Store, and at Willamette Industries. For many years, she worked alongside her husband Gary, in the family business, Cooley’s Furniture. She enjoyed bird watching from her patio in the backyard, golf and was a gourmet cook.
She is survived by her husband Gary, of Dallas; daughter Kimera (John) Coady, of Salem, their children Josh and Karley; son Wayne Cooley, of Dallas, and his children Kourtney and Chase; siblings Gayla Overstreet, of Dallas, and Larry Diehm, of Laguna Hills, California. She was preceded in death by her sister Nancie Doke.
Private family services were held.
