Tom was born and raised in Falls City. He was a hard worker, usually holding three jobs at a time, but always had time for his children even if it was just a kiss goodnight at the end of a hard days’ work.
Tom graduated from Falls City early and joined the Navy in 1970. After retiring from the Navy, he joined the Army National Guard and served for 16 years.
Tom then went to work for the state of Oregon as a heavy equipment mechanic until he started the Sheridan Pizza Company and the McMinnville Pizza Company, which he owned and operated until retirement. He had many fond memories of his customers and was extremely proud of his pizzas.
Tom was full of energy and had an infectious sense of humor that brightened everyone that came into contact with him, and could always elicit a laugh. He had a Heart of Gold and was generous beyond his means.
Tom is survived by the Love of His Life Patti Sample; they were married for 44 years. He also leaves behind his son Ryan Sample and daughter Lindsey (Alex) Pascual; and grandsons RJ and Alex Jr. He also is survived by sisters, Cindi, Becky, and Brenda; and was preceded in death by his parents Mitt and Petie Sample.
A short graveside service will be at the Lower Falls City Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. with a potluck to follow at the Falls City Community Center at 320 N. Main, and a celebratory toast at the Boondocks after the potluck. Farnstrom Mortuary is caring for the family. Please visit www.FarnstromMortuary.com to leave condolences and memories of Tom.
