Roland Jerry Giesbrecht, 79, a resident of Dallas, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1939, in Dallas the son of John V. and Mary C. Milledge Giesbrecht.
He graduated in 1957 from Dallas High School.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps with basic training at Camp Pendleton, California. In 1958, Roland began working for the Gerlinger Carrier Corporation as a machinist and worked through the transitions to Towmotor and Caterpillar from 1958 to 1971.
On Nov. 15, 1963, he married Virginia Lee Eastman in the Salt Creek Baptist Church.
He went to work for the Oregon Department of Transportation and worked there for 25 years until his retirement in 1997.
Roland was a Marine Veteran and was very patriotic. He was a real car buff, belonging to the Willamette MG Club and the Willamette Valley Model A Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, riding quads and backpacking.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, of Dallas; son Todd (Kim) Giesbrecht, of Beaverton; and daughter Julie (Jeff) Pashak, of Beaverton; along with two granddaughters Sara and Marissa Pashak. Also surviving is brother Gary Giesbrecht, of Portland. He was preceded in death by his brother John W. Giesbrecht.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
