Polk County communities go all out to ring in the holiday season

Western Oregon University lights up the giant sequoia on Friday. A light parade, choir performances, cookie contests and, of course, Santa, packed the evening.
Ash Creek Animal Clinic’s lighted display, complete with dogs and Frosty the Snowman, makes its way down Main Street during the Independence Downtown Association’s annual light parade.
Ezekiel Shelton, 2, grooves to Christmas and Hanukkah tunes played by a brass band at Western Oregon University’s 47th annual tree lighting events inside Werner University Center on Friday.
Not all little girls and boys were thrilled to meet Santa at Dallas’ Winterfest celebration Friday.
