The Dallas Public Library presents the Portland Guitar Duo of James Manuele and Foti Lycouridis in the free classical guitar concert “Guitarology” at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at the Dallas Event Center, 939 Main St. “Guitarology” program looks at the history of the guitar and lute through historical performance of period music. The Portland Guitar Duo traces the development of the instruments through five centuries of music with a collection that includes Renaissance and Baroque lutes, Baroque, Romantic, 10-string, and modern classical guitars. The duo discusses the aesthetics, repertoire, playing techniques, instrument construction and composers of each period.
