DALLAS — A Dallas resident reported missing on June 19 has been found dead.

Ronald Taylor, 67, was last seen by a relative on June 17 before heading to the Portland area for an appointment scheduled the next day. Taylor did not make his appointment, according the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor’s car was found abandoned June 19 in south Polk County off Burbank Road near Gage Road. Police agencies began a search — asking the public for assistance in finding Taylor — after learning of the missed appointment and reports that he had recently been somewhat despondent.

The search continued through June 21 and resumed last weekend when search dogs located Taylor’s body not far from where his vehicle was found.

According to the sheriff’s office, he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
