Jan. 13 at 11:18 a.m., Polk County Sheriffs Office, 850 Main St.: A woman reported that she received a call from a man who claimed to be from the Ida County Sheriff’s Office. He told her she needed to send money or she would be arrested. She did not send money, but stopped by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office since she was in the area. She said she blocked the number. The PCSO deputy told her what she did was correct and that a government office will not call to her to threaten her for payment of a warrant.

Jan. 14 at 4:27 p.m., in the 28000 block of Andy Riggs Road: A deputy responded to a complaint about a “continual issue” of a pig running at large and onto the complainant’s property. The complainant agreed to have PCSO animal control contact the pig’s owners to educate them on the issue and give suggestions to fix the problem.

Jan. 16 at 9:35 a.m., in the 1000 block of Fernwood Court NW: A man reported items stolen from his van, which he said was locked. There was no damage to the vehicle. Air pods, wallet, driver’s license, credit cards, gas card and ferry card were stolen. Value: $250.

Cory P. Wells, 38, of Salem at the corner of Southwest Birch and Hayter streets on Jan. 22 on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving and possession of methamphetamine.


Kody Daryl Heermann, 30, of Amity in the 1300 block of Monmouth Street on Jan. 10 for failure to appear on a Monmouth Municipal Court warrant.

Hubmerto Bentacourt-Orozco, 19, of Independence on Jan. 11 for possession of marijuana, under 21.

Andrew Joseph Vasquez, 20, of Salem near Monmouth and S. 12th Streets on Jan. 12 for minor in possession, alcohol.

Kelsey Elizabeth Weeks, 30, near S. 9th and E Streets on Jan. 17 for DUII.

Carlos Venegas, 18, of McMinnville in the 500 block of D Street on Jan. 12 for failure to carry/present operator’s license, giving false information to an officer and possession of marijuana, under 21.

Kyle James Norman, 19, of Salem near Monmouth and 55th Streets on Jan. 13 for minor in possession, alcohol.

Kelsey Elizabeth Weeks, 30, near S. 9th and E Streets on Jan. 17 for DUII.

Christian Thi Nguyen, 25, of Monmouth near Monmouth Street and 13th Street on Jan. 18 for DUII.

Jose Anton Martinez Alacantra, 29, of Independence in the 800 block of Fourth Street on Jan. 19 for DUII.
