Richard “Dick” Carl McDonald, 72, of Falls City died Feb. 17 in Falls City from a long-term illness.
He was born in Dallas to Eugene L. McDonald and Elsie L. Muller McDonald.
He grew up on the family farm in Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School in 1961.
Dick worked on the farm, in the woods and was an equipment operator.
He married Raeann Peterson on July 31, 1982.
They worked together to build Richard McDonald Trucking. He hauled logs up and down Highway 101 for 20 years.
Dick was an athlete and loved sports. He played and coached softball into his 50s. He loved animals, his family, friends, his grandchildren, and nature. He was known as the “lawn mower man” at Willamette Lutheran Homes where he volunteered. He loved polishing rocks, driving his winning log truck in parades, and his Harley.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry and son, Richard Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Raeann; sons, Shane of Seattle, Sam of Fall City, and Dustin (Nakomi) of West Salem; daughter, Lisa of Seattle; brothers, Tom (Sue), Bill (Judy), and Harper, all of Dallas, and Joe of Harrisburg; sister, Mary (Tim) Weiss of Dallas; and 11 grandchildren.
At Dick’s request there will be no service, and asked that people celebrate his life as he did.
