DALLAS – A Polk County jury found Independence resident Quinlyn Harden guilty on all charges following a trial that ended Monday.

Felipe Rodriguez Jr., 33, of Independence, will serve nearly five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two count of delivering substantial quantities of heroin.

Several errors appeared in a story headlined "Man who made career of sex abuse gets life term," which appeared on Page 9A of the June 1 issue of the Itemizer-Observer. It was incorrectly reported that William Megginson Smith would receive life in prison before the actual date of his sentencing; the sentencing was presumptive. Smith had never been previously convicted of public indecency prior to the incident in this case, as reported. Smith had also gone 15 months without an arrest before his 2008 incident; the reporter stated Smith had never gone more than six months without being incarcerated since 1979. The I-O regrets the errors.

Information for the police and court report comes from local law enforcement agencies. Not all calls for service are included. The status of incidents reported may change after further investigation. Those arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven guilty.
